Living on a Prayer
Passage: Acts 2:41–47
-"Prayer is surrender--surrender to the will of God and cooperation with that will. If I throw out a boathook from the boat and catch hold of the shore and pull, do I pull the shore to me, or do I pull myself to the shore? Prayer is not pulling God to my will, but the aligning of my will to the will of God." E. Stanley Jones
- "Don't worry about having the right words; worry more about having the right heart. It's not eloquence He seeks, just honesty." Max Lucado
- "Prayer is the way you defeat the devil, reach the lost, restore a backslider, strengthen the saints, send missionaries out, cure the sick, accomplish the impossible, and know the will of God." Dr. David Jeremiah
- "Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?" Corrie Ten Boom
Does God hear the prayers of sinners?
It is important to learn how to pray.
Prayer is to be from your heart not a polished, practiced mantra or chant.
Your prayer life should be vibrant, ongoing, and continual. Your day should interrupt your prayer; not your prayer interrupting your day.
- "Lord dismiss us with your peace, except for those who don't know you, keep them miserable until they come to know the Prince of Peace." Dr. Donald Barnhouse
