This is a Bible Challenge
reading through the books of I & II Kings.
As in the original the books were one and set out to record the entire history of the kings of Judah and Israel along with I & II Samuel. You can contrast that to the two chronicles whose main concern is the monarchy of Judah. Not only do we learn a ton of history, we see the kingdom divided and meet a ton of personal people along the way. These books are a bit easier to understand if you know a bit of the culture so this challenge I would recommend a solid Study Bible that you can look at the study notes on areas that seem odd or unusual to our culture.
